A resurfacing project on Highway 5 in Chariton County continues to be delayed due to weather and material concerns.
According to a news release from the Missouri Department of Transportation, crews from Capital Paving and Construction, working with MoDOT, plan to begin work Thursday, June 20 on Highway 129 during the Highway 5 delay.
Crews plan to begin resurfacing 7.24 miles of Highway 129- from Route W to Route PP near Salisbury- with a planned completion date in early July. Crews currently are working to determine a new start date for the Highway 5 project.
Motorists who regularly travel this area should be alert and watch for roadway signs and workers.
A pilot car will be used to guide vehicles through the work zone. Crews will work during daylight hours, five days per week. If necessary, some work may occur on the weekends to complete the project on schedule.
All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.
