An area law-enforcement agency is warning residents about a possible scam.
According to a post on its Facebook page, the Sedalia Police Department has received reports from several citizens who received calls from a person identified as “Agent Johnson with the Sedalia Police Department.” “Agent Johnson” would then demand money.
The post also says: “It should be noted that no one with this department will ever solicit money over the phone.”
If you have any suspicions about a call potentially being a scam, you are advised to hang up and call the non-emergency number at the police department- (660) 826-8100- to verify if the caller is law enforcement.
