With the official end of the 2018-19 school year only a couple of days away, the Marshall School Board met in special session on Friday, June 28, and closed out the budget to reflect actual totals.
According to unofficial minutes, the board also approved the 2019-20 working budget; and accepted a bid of $6,235,000 from Excel Constructors for the addition to the Spainhower School.
The board also gave the green light to stipends in the amount of $13,560 for summer curriculum writing.
The board also approved the MHS, coach and activity sponsor, BMS, SCCC Financial Aid, SCCC Practical Nursing and Elementary Handbooks. The Athletic Handbook is scheduled to be approved after some questions can be answered about technical fouls.
Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher also reported several projects will be done during the summer, including roof repairs at Northwest and Southeast Elementary Schools; HVAC at Southeast; parking-lot repairs at the Saline County Career Center and MHS; sidewalk repairs; and the Spainhower addition.
