Some area residents went to the polls to cast votes in the special election on Tuesday, August 6.
In Saline County, according to a release from County Clerk Debbie Russell’s office, the question for an additional 35 cents per $100 of assessed valuation on real and personal property to be used for rock on the roads, was approved 34 yes votes to 10 no votes in the Blackburn/Elmwood Special Road District.
According to a release from Chariton County Clerk Susan Littleton, voters in Chariton Township approved a tax-levy increase of 20 cents to a total of 46.34 cents per $100 of assessed valuation on real and personal property by a 21 to 13 margin. And, voters also approved the Keytesville City Collector position to be one that is appointed by the Board of Aldermen by a 17 to 3 count.
The vote totals are unofficial at this time. They are scheduled to be certified later this week.
