According to a probable cause statement, on July 10, 2019, sheriff’s deputies received a report from a Keytesville resident, claiming he had had some checks stolen from his residence. The victim told deputies after checking with his bank he noticed there were numerous checks written on his account that he did not right. There was one check written to O’Reilly’s in the amount of $206.80, three other checks totaling $1,115 were all made out to 19-year-old Kaitlyn Sanders of New Franklin. The check made out to O’Reilly’s reportedly had the driver’s license number of 20-year-old Jayden R. Lewis of Marceline.
The victim informed authorities that Jayden Lewis reportedly has access to his apartment and Kaitlin Sander is allegedly Lewis’s girlfriend.
Sanders has been charged with three counts of a Class D Felony for Forgery and a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or more. Her bond has been set at $5,000 cash only, with no surety allowed.
Lewis is facing four counts of a Class D Felony for Forgery and a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or more. His bond is set at $10,000 cash only, with no surety allowed.
Initial court dates for both Sanders and Lewis are pending at Chariton County Circuit Court.
