At the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Tuesday, September 10, Clerk Debbie Russell gave an update on the situation with the county’s computers after the ransomware attack on Midwest Computech, the county’s contracted Computer and Security Systems provider late last month.
Midwest Computech identified the attack as a “Brute Force” attack that was detected on August 27.
Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said he asked a question at the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation meeting earlier on Tuesday.
Russell said it’s an ongoing process for each agency to keep its data safe from hackers.
