Two Sedalia teens have been charged with multiple felonies after an incident on October 1.
According to a post on the Sedalia Police Department’s Facebook page, just after 2 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South State Fair Boulevard on a report of suspicious activity. Two male subjects were seen running from the area wearing hooded sweatshirts.
Upon arrival, an officer located a vehicle leaving the 1900 block of West 10th Street, and he began to follow it. The vehicle drove to the 2100 block of West Broadway, and the driver ended up parking/stopping in a nearby parking lot of a business. Two subjects exited the vehicle- and one immediately began running from the area. The other subject began to comply and then also ran from the area. The officer gave chase, and that subject was soon located and arrested. It was soon discovered that the vehicle the subjects ran from was stolen just prior to the officer locating it.
Later in the day, other officers located the other subject who ran from the vehicle, and he also was arrested.
Through his investigation and questioning, Detective Travis St.Cyr was able to request additional charges against 17-year-olds Izaak Bartley and Austin Hedrick for their involvement with three other vehicles- one of which was crashed into a light pole after it was stolen on September 7, 2019.
According to online court documents, Bartley has been charged with Class D Felonies for Burglary in the Second Degree and Stealing a Motor Vehicle, with bond set at $15,000 cash or surety in one case; and two counts of a Class D Felony for Stealing a Motor Vehicle, with bond set at $10,000 cash or surety, in the other case. Hedrick has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing a Motor Vehicle and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest for a Felony, with bond set at $7,500 cash or surety, in one cases; and two counts of a Class D Felony for Stealing a Motor Vehicle and a Class E Felony for Leaving the Scene of an Accident- Property Damage Exceeding $1,000, with bond set at $10,000 cash or surety, in the other.
Bartley was arraigned in both of his cases on October 3, and each cause has been continued for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29; while Hedrick’s initial hearings are pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
