Discussions were held on several different topics- including a possible occupancy permit process- during the Marshall City Council meeting on Monday, October 7.
City Attorney Josh Taylor talked about the gist of the rough draft of the possible ordinance, including an inspection of rental property not more than once per year.

Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends said the initial inspection would cost the owner $45; and if the dwelling doesn’t pass that inspection, a subsequent inspection would be $25.
Mayor Julie Schwetz said she will be available- and perhaps some other council members and other city officials- to field any questions prior to the next council meeting.

The next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 21.
According to the council, the proposed ordinance as it is written now is available on the city’s website.
