A 27-year-old New Franklin man has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly assaulting a woman at a residence in Cooper County on October 9.
According to a probable-cause statement, the woman told authorities she was met by Cody Ivy, who she said confronted her about her sleeping with her estranged husband. The woman said she ignored Ivy and went to sleep. She said that while she was lying in bed, Ivy continued yelling at her and began poking her in the face and head. She said Ivy then pulled her out of the bed by her leg and began to assault her. She said he hit her in the head and chest area. The woman said she tried to get away while Ivy continued to hit her. She said she tried to exit the house via the back door, and Ivy stopped her and pushed her against the couch. Authorities say the woman had visible bruises on each of her legs and a foot; as well as slight redness to her chest and arm. She said the injuries were caused by Ivy.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Ivy has been charged with a Class D Felony for Kidnapping in the Second Degree and Class E Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Third-Degree and First-Degree Harassment. Bond has been fixed at $50,000 cash or surety.
Ivy’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
