Three residents of Clinton were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Henry County on Monday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Jeffrey Stephens, of Clinton, reportedly crossed the center line of the roadway and struck head-on a westbound vehicle, driven by 58-year-old Nancy Jurgensmeyer, of Montrose. The Stephens vehicle then traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned and ejected all three occupants.
Stephens suffered serious injuries and was transported by Air E.M.S. to a hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Two other passengers in his vehicle, whose ages were not known at the time of the report, suffered moderate injuries and also were transported by helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Jurgensmeyer suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The report says none of the occupants in the Stephens vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Missouri Highway 52, one-half mile east of Southwest 1075th Road.
