There are likely to be some older “trick-or-treaters” ringing doorbells in your neighborhood in Marshall on Halloween. But they won’t be asking for any kind of sweet treat.

According to a release from Missouri Valley College, the MVC men’s wrestling program will be holding its annual Kans-4-Kids food donation drive.

This is the seventh straight year for the event, which has collected nearly 11,000 canned goods since its inception, including a record 2,309 items last year.

The food collected will be distributed to needy families within the Marshall school district.

According to MVC head coach Mike Machholz, Kans-4-Kids helps supply all four elementary schools with non-perishable food that can be handed out weekly to families that need some extra help.

The wrestlers will be going from door-to-door from 6 to 8 p.m..

Donations also will be accepted at Northwest Elementary School during regular business hours and from 6 to 8 p.m., as well, on Halloween. In addition, donations may be dropped off at the Burns Athletic Complex on the MVC campus at 542 East Morrow Street.
