A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia.

CLINTON MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN HEAD-ON TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON MONDAY

Three residents of Clinton were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Henry County on Monday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Jeffrey Stephens, of Clinton, reportedly crossed the center line of the roadway and struck head-on a westbound vehicle, driven by 58-year-old Nancy Jurgensmeyer, of Montrose. The Stephens vehicle then traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned and ejected all three occupants.

Stephens suffered serious injuries and was transported by Air E.M.S. to a hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Two other passengers in his vehicle, whose ages were not known at the time of the report, suffered moderate injuries and also were transported by helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Jurgensmeyer suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The report says none of the occupants in the Stephens vehicle was wearing a seat belt.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Missouri Highway 52, one-half mile east of Southwest 1075th Road.

COLUMBIA MAN KILLED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON MONDAY

Columbia man was killed in a traffic accident in Columbia on Monday.

According to a report from the Columbia Police Department, the accident happened as a southbound Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 22-year-old Corey Kramel, of Columbia, reportedly collided with the passenger side of a Ford Eagle, driven northbound by 48-year-old Kathryne Harris, of Marshall. The accident happened in an intersection, while the Harris vehicle was attempting to make a left turn.

Kramel was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact. He was transported from the scene to a hospital in Columbia for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries. Harris suffered minor injuries and was transported to a Columbia hospital for treatment.

The accident happened just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Providence Road and the entrance to westbound I-70.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.

Joseph Leon Sandbothe, age 67, of Boonville, died Sunday October 30, 2016.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 4, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin, where visitation begins at 1 p.m.

Burial, with military honors, will follow services at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Clarks Chapel Cemetery Association.

He is survived by two sons, Nate Sandbothe, of Boonville, and Nick Sandbothe and wife, Holly, of Columbia; his father, Leonard Sandbothe, of Boonville; his grandchildren, Zack, Ryan, Austin and Aubrielle Sandbothe; two brothers, Steve Sandbothe and wife, Janet, of Sedalia, and Rodney Sandbothe and wife, Sherie, of Columbia; and by nieces and nephews, including Rodney Sandbothe, Stephanie Bryson, Shasta Hartley and Shanina Herbert.

In addition to his wife, Brenda, Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Sandbothe.
