SLATER CITY COUNCIL SCHEDULED TO MEET TUESDAY NIGHT

The Slater City Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1.

On the agenda, the council is slated to get an update on the electric meter change-out process, discuss sewer lining and talk about the city’s health insurance.

Mayor Stephen Allegri also is scheduled to update the council on tree trimming in the city and talk about the upcoming turkey give-a-way.

The meeting will be held at Slater City Hall at 232 North Main Street.

Van Raymond Howery, age 81, of Marshall, died Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Graveside services, with military rites, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, at Union Cemetery, north of Marshall.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor’s choice, in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.

In addition to his wife, Betty; he is survived by one sister, Margaret Oehlschalaeger and husband, Bob, of Grain Valley; a daughter-in-law, Lora Howery, of Marshall; two grandchildren, Samuel Louis Howery and Rebecca Ann Howery; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Van and Alice Irene Moody Howery; one son, Van Michael (Mike) Howery; and two brothers, Harold Dean Howery and Franklin Wayne Howery.

Sara Rosetta Bias, age 88, of Cole Camp, died Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, November 1, at First Baptist Church in Cole Camp, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the family in care of the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.

She is survived by: two daughters, Linda Uptegrove (Roger), of Cole Camp, and Thelma Redman (Perry Jr.), of Toas; two sisters, Polly Ann Grey, of Portland, Oregon, and Vivian May Cunningham, of Callao; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roy and Renie Pearl (Hendrix) Moad; five sisters, Mary, Carol, Viola, Helen, and Bonnie; seven brothers, Gene, Harvey, Gary, Jerry, Bobby, Leroy, and David; and a grandchild, Billy Joe Brown, Jr.
