MISSOURI RIVER FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

The Friends of Historic Boonville is pleased to announce that the Missouri River Festival of the Arts will be held August 26-28 at historic Thespian Hall (c. 1857) in Boonville, Missouri. The Missouri River Festival of the Arts is the oldest performing arts festival in the state of Missouri and is held in the oldest theater in continuous use west of the Allegheny Mountains.

Under the artistic direction of David Halen, Concertmaster of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra as well as the Aspen Music Festival, we have the best of both symphonies to create a one of a kind festival! Mr. Halen has planned the following outstanding lineup of performances: (performances are subject to last minutes changes or additions as necessary to provide the finest quality programming).

 

Thursday, August 26 – “The Broadway Opener!” Sarah Nordin and Tyler Putnam bring their stellar vocal talents to kick off the Missouri River Festival of the Arts in sizzling style.

Friday, August 27“Ebony, Ivory, and Strings.” This is an evening of musical masterpieces. Violin soloists Che Yun Kim and Celeste Golden Boyer will be featured with pianist Henry Kramer. The wonderful Mendelssohn String Octet will be performed by the Festival Strings.  Henry Kramer and a string quartet will play Brahms’ Piano Quintet in G Minor.

Saturday, August 28“The Missouri River Festival Orchestra Presents!” Under the direction of Maestro Darwin Aquino, the orchestra will perform Rossini’s “Italian in Algiers Overture,” “Fingal’s Cave,” by Mendelssohn, and Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano,” featuring Henry Kramer, piano; Che Yun Kim, violin; and Susie Yang, cello.

 

All performances begin at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7:00 pm each evening.
