The Sweet Springs R-7 School Board held a discussion about joining other school districts in developing better assessment tests for students during its meeting on Thursday, February 15.
According to the minutes from the meeting, the board talked about joining the Missouri Assessment Partnership (MOAP), which is a consortium of school districts forming together to develop state assessment test to replace the MAP test.
The goal of MOAP is “to replace MAP tests with an assessment system that promotes students as the first and most important audience by developing the right test and administer it at the right time; include critical thinking and important conceptual understandings; local control of instructional design; engage learners and life readiness; and continuous improvement customized to local context.”
The board approved the district to join MOAP for an initial cost $108.
In other business, Superintendent Donna Wright said the district has three weather-related days to make up. Wright added class is scheduled to be in session for the make up days on February 19, as well as May 21 and 22.
