Each of two residents of the state of Illinois has been charged with a drug-related felony in Cooper County after authorities allegedly uncovered several drug-related items and contraband during a search of their vehicle after a traffic stop at exit 98 along I-70 on December 1, 2017.
According to the probable-cause statement, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper allegedly found 405 grams of marijuana, 2.5 pounds of manufactured marijuana products– cookies, brownies, candies, salve and lotion– smoking pipes and rolling papers. In a duffel bag, the trooper also allegedly found approximately 51 grams of marijuana and 90 grams of manufactured THC products.
According to online court documents, warrants have been issued and 35-year-old Ryan Mark Burnett, of Villa Grove, and 57-year-old Karl A. Strater, of Champaign, each has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond has not yet been set for either subject.
An initial hearing for each man is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court in Boonville.
