An Independence resident has been charged with a couple of felonies for allegedly breaking into a residence in Norborne on January 4, 2018, and stealing numerous firearms.
According to a probable-cause statement, 35-year-old John J. Savala reportedly stole the firearms from a residence in the 600 block of South Elm Street and then pawned some of them. Some of the firearms reportedly have been recovered.
Online court documents say Savala has been charged with Class D Felonies for Burglary in the Second Degree and Stealing of $750 or more. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash only, no 10-percent allowed, with conditions.
Savala’s initial hearing at Carroll County Circuit Court in Carrollton is pending.
