The hiring of the next chief of police was announced during the meeting of the Slater City Council on Tuesday, April 17.
Mayor Dr. Stephen Allegri said he offered the job to a Saline County deputy who was the only applicant for the position.

According to a news release, Troy Goff has over 10 years experience in law enforcement which includes serving the Slater Police Department in the past. Goff and his family have lived in Slater since 2008, and has worked for the Saline County Sheriff’s Office since 2017. Goff accepted the offer to become Slater’s Police Chief.
In other business, Allegri said the City’s Animal Control Officer position is available to anyone interested in applying for the job.
