The Boonville City Council considered accepting a quitclaim deed to acquire property for a new animal shelter during a meeting on Monday, May 7.
Director of Public Works M.L. Cauthon said the process of the city acquiring the half-acre piece of property in the southeast corner of Al Bersted Drive and Morgan Street is almost complete after receiving a signed deed from the current landowner.
Cauthon said work on the new animal shelter will begin once the council accepts the quitclaim deed and the paperwork is finished.
The council approved to accepted the quitclaim deed from Huebert Fiberboard, Inc.
