A former Saline County agency director will have a roadway dedicated in his honor.
Along with approving several bids and appointing Ward 2 Councilman Chuck Hines as Mayor Pro Tem to replace Ward 3 Councilman Charlie Guthrey, the Marshall City Council heard a presentation by current Saline County Emergency Management Agency Director Tony Day during its meeting on Monday, May 7.
Day also had help from his assistant Sharon Sheffer and acting Marshall Public Library Director Mary Bays, whom he said actually came up with the idea, which Day said was supported by Mayor Mark Gooden and City Administrator Dave Haugland.
Day read a proclamation.
Marsha, the late Emmit G. Williams’ wife, was presented a replica of the sign– Emmit G. Williams Drive.
Those who packed the council chamber gave a standing ovation to the proclamation.
