A Lexington man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening employees at a medical clinic earlier this week in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says on Wednesday, June 20, Lexington Police officers received a call from the manager of the Lexington Medical Clinic who stated 47-year-old Jeffrey Slaughter had threatened and harassed several employees as they were coming in to work. Slaughter reportedly was standing next the entrance of the clinic and was noticed to be in possession of a butcher knife. One employee stated Slaughter told them to “walk faster or better start running”.
Officers located Slaughter who said he placed the knife in a nearby trash can and stated the only thing in his possession was a used syringe, which later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Online court documents say Slaughter has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Exhibiting. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety with a special condition of not being within 100 feet of the clinic.
Slaughter appeared for his arrangement hearing and entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday, June 21, and a case-hearing has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
