An area woman has been charged with felonies after authorities reportedly found evidence of drug use in the presence of children recently in Saline County.
A probable-cause statement says on June 28, 2018, Marshall Police officers responded to a report from a Division of Family Services case worker regarding alleged child abuse and neglect involving drugs at a residence in the 600 block of South Lafayette Avenue. The case worker with assistance from the officers knocked on the front door of the residence which was answered by a juvenile female. Eventually, 28-year-old Jade Roettgen, who’s last known address is listed in Nelson, came to the door, spoke with the case worker and gave consent to a search of the residence.
During the search, officers found six spoons with white substances in the bowl that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as syringes and other drug-related paraphernalia. The drug-related items reportedly were located near a bed in which the children were allowed to sleep on.
Online court documents say Roettgen has been charged with two Class D Felonies for Endangering the Welfare of a Child Involving Drugs in the First Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance, as well as one drug-related misdemeanor. Bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety.
Roettgen appeared via video for her arraignment hearing on June 29, and advised the court she plans to seek counsel from the public defender. Her cause was continued for a counsel-status hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Saline County Circuit Court.
