A Lexington man has been charged with a felony for allowing people to consume illegal drugs in his home recently in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says on August 20, Lexington Police officers spoke with a suspect about alleged drug activity occurring at a residence on South Business Highway 13.
On August 23, law enforcement conducted a search of the residence and reportedly found drug paraphernalia, where 69-year-old James Knott was arrested. Knott reportedly admitted that people would enter his home and consume illegal drugs in a bedroom. During the questioning of other suspects, methamphetamine was discovered to be what was consumed at Knott’s residence.
Online court documents say Knott has been charged with a Class E Felony for Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Knott’s initial hearing at Lafayette County Circuit Court is pending.
