The Marshall City Council was asked to approve the purchase of a street sweeper during its meeting on Monday, October 1.
Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson said it is a budgeted item.

Anderson said it is built to MoDOT specifications, and the company has agreed to add a couple of options the city has asked for at no extra cost. He said the sweeper has about 100 hours of use- demonstrating it to other towns- “but that is pretty minimal considering the one we have has about 10,000 hours on it.”
Anderson said the net price will be $219,750- far less than the $300,000 that was budgeted- after a $29,750 trade-in for one the city has.
Ward 3 Councilman Dan Brandt said this is a critical part of the year to be getting the machine.

The council approved the purchase, and Anderson said the city should receive it within the next two to four weeks.
In other news, Anderson said a sidewalk project is progressing, and construction could begin as early as next week.
