An area law-enforcement agency has received reports of a recent scam involving callers requesting to remove prescription medications from homes in Carroll County.
According to a post on the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, the agency is notifying citizens of a scam where callers are contacting homes of the recently deceased in an attempt to steal medications.
If the phone call is answered by someone, the caller asks to sell the deceased person’s medications or offer to dispose of them. Reportedly, if no one answers the phone, the scammers attempt to break into the residence and steal medications.

Also, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has the means of disposing old medications.
