From a high of 55,000 and 98 percent of the system affected, Talquin Electric Cooperative now is showing 15,000 without power as the assistance of 123 Missouri linemen makes progress.
According to a news release, with most of the repairs complete on the east side of the system, the focus is now shifting to western Florida, where the damage was the most severe from Hurricane Michael.
Currently, Talquin Electric has around 400 additional linemen working to restore power to its members. It also has other co-op crews from Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana, along with private contractors. Missouri’s 123 linemen make up around 30 percent of their additional crews.
There is speculation the Missouri crews will wrap up their work on Sunday or Monday and return home.
The crews from Missouri include linemen from Central Missouri Electric Cooperative in Sedalia; West Central Electric Cooperative in Higginsville; and Co-Mo Electric Cooperative in Tipton.
