The Missouri Department of Transportation wants to remind motorists to stay alert and watch for road work, crews and snow plows on roadways during the upcoming winter months.
According to MoDOT, motorist should be aware of most major construction projects which have been finished or been put on hold until the weather warms up as maintenance crews may be pulled away from their planned road projects for inclement weather.
Current winter projects are moving forward, so drivers may not see cones and barrels set up in a lengthy work zone, but they may encounter several trucks in a row with one directing them to move over around the workers or the vehicles ahead.
Motorists can see where crews plan to work by viewing the Traveler Information Map at modot.org or by downloading the MoDOT app for their mobile device. The Map and App also give motorists a glimpse at current road conditions and traffic congestion. Motorists are advised to check traffic conditions before traveling.
Also, motorists can call the 24-hour customer service line at 1-888-ASK MODOT (888-275-6636).
