A Slater man charged with felonies for allegedly failing to provide proper sex-offender registration information earlier this year has a court date on Monday, December 10.
Online court documents say Larry Wayne Powers has been charged with a Class E Felony for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy in the First Degree. Bond has been set at $200,000 cash only, with several conditions. His lawyer’s motion for bond reduction was denied by the court on June 27.
A probable-cause statement says Powers reportedly admitted to authorities he failed to provide proper sex-offender registration information, including his use of multiple social-media sites to communicate with juveniles. Powers also reportedly detailed sexual encounters with a 15-year-old, and admitted he received inappropriate photos from the victim on an unregistered phone in February and March 2018.
Powers entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment hearing on August 13, and is scheduled to appear for a case review at 9 a.m. at Saline County Circuit Court.
