Something that has needed to be fixed for several years in Sweet Springs could be taken care of by this upcoming summer.
City Clerk Michelle Fuehring explained the Board of Aldermen made a decision about a bid received for the lagoon project during its meeting on Monday, December 10.

Fuehring said aldermen approved the awarding of the bid, and now the city will continue to take the steps forward to get the project moving. She said once all of the I’s are dotted, the T’s are crossed and the work begins, SMI-CO will have six months to finish it.
The downside is that the residents of Sweet Springs are going to need to pay a higher sewer bill to fund the project.

Fuehring pointed out that the Board of Aldermen will discuss how to implement the increase at a future meeting. She said it will not take effect until the board irons out all of the particulars.
