An action was taken involving the renovation of the city pool during the meeting of the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen on Monday, January 14.
According to unofficial minutes, Public Works Superintendent Nate Lea noted five specific alternates for the pool project. He pointed out installation of the climbing wall will cost $7,700; basketball hoop $5,800; deck-mounted slide $15,500; shade structures $18,000; and spray pad area $119,000. Aldermen voted unanimously to approve all of the work, totaling $166,000.
In other business, Alderman Wyatt Lea reminded residents about the Emergency Snow Routes. He said they are Bridge, Daisy, Miller, Marshall, Lexington, Spring, Jefferson, Pine, Mulberry, Bruns, Walnut and Ray Streets. According to city ordinance, if snow exceeds two inches, and a vehicle is parked on a snow route, it could be ticketed and towed.
Utility clerk Shannon Hall also said that due to the amount of snow that is on the ground, water bills most likely will be estimated this month.
Aldermen also voted to promote Dallas Hammonds from probationary to permanent-employee status with the Public Works Department. He also will be getting a 50-cent per-hour raise.
