Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of death of an area youth on Saturday.
A post on the Brookfield Police Department’s Facebook page says officers responded to a residence in reference to an unresponsive youth at 3:22 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 11-year-old male. Officers initiated lifesaving procedures until the arrival of Linn County Ambulance personnel.
The youth was transported to Pershing Memorial Hospital and died at 3:55 a.m.
The identity of the child has not been released at this time.
The Brookfield Police Department was assisted by staff of the Linn County Ambulance District, Pershing Memorial Hospital, the Linn County Coroner’s office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Linn County Juvenile Office, the Linn County Prosecuting Attorney and the Missouri Children’s Division.
