The Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduled to host a public meeting about a future roadwork project in Odessa on Tuesday, February 26.
According to MoDOT, from 4 to 6 p.m., the meeting is scheduled to discuss a shoulder-widening project along Highway 131, from Highway 50 to Route OO, through Lafayette and Johnson counties. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Odessa Community Building in Dire Park, located at 601 West Main Street.
The majority of the future project will consist of adding two-foot-wide paved shoulders, however some of the shoulders may be widened up to eight feet on the inside of the sharp curves in Johnson County. This project also includes pavement resurfacing, culvert replacements and the installation of edge-line rumble strips.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2020 and may continue to 2021.
