The Marshall School Board was asked to approve the district’s calendar for the 2019-20 school year during its meeting on Wednesday, February 27.
According to meeting minutes, the board gave its blessing to a calendar that includes the first day of school to be on August 21; a 10-day Christmas break; commencement on Sunday, May 17, 2020; and the last day of school as Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
In other news, the board gave its approval for May 1 this year to be an early out for the district.
Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher reported the administration is not sure if the district will have summer school this year because of the late dismissal of schools in May. Next year, because of moving pre-K, Kindergarten and first grade into a new building, there will not be summer school. The high school will have its credit-recovery program both summers. The administration will be looking for new ideas for K-8 summer school for the future.
Also, after evaluation, the school board voted 5-1 to approve the reemployment of Dr. Maher. Reemployment of the administrative staff was approved unanimously.
