During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Tuesday, March 12, commissioners explained they had just received three different options for the route of water and sewer pipes from the north side to the south side of I-70 at Marshall Junction.
Commissioners met with engineers from Saline County Water Supply District No. 3 this past Friday. Commissioners said they will study each proposal.
Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. pointed out a 12-inch water line is required in order to get the volume of water necessary for fire protection.
Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said commissioners will make a decision soon- perhaps within the next day or two.
Each proposal has the pipes taking a different route to get from the north side to the south side of I-70. The idea of the project is to attract businesses to the junction.
The multi-million dollar project will be paid for from proceeds of the half-cent sales-tax measure passed by voters last April for economic development throughout the county.
