Two area residents have been charged with felonies after a traffic stop reportedly discovered them to be in possession of illegal drugs with children present in Lafayette County on Thursday, April 11.
A probable-cause statement says Odessa Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle which was missing the front bumper and the license plate was unreadable. Officers spoke with the driver, 31-year-old Carl Kampe, of Warrensburg; and passenger, 17-year-old Mila Saettone, of Knob Noster. After detecting suspicious activity, officers reportedly conducted a search of the vehicle which revealed them to be in possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia while two children were present in car seats.
Online court documents say Kampe and Saettone each have been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of Controlled Substance and another Class D Felony for Endangering the Welfare of a Child Involving Drugs in the First Degree. Bond for each was set at $25,000.
Each subject was formally arraigned and enter a plea of not guilty on April 12, and each cause was continued with a case hearing at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
