Area middle school students recently raised money during a two-week fundraiser and donated the proceeds to two entities in Pettis County.
According to a news release, students on Sedalia Middle School’s Team Stealth gathered the proceeds from a recent service learning project. Under the guidance of teacher Anne Luebbert, the students made friendship bracelets and sold them for $1 each over a two-week period, raising $700.
The money was split, with $350 donated to the Sedalia Police Department and $350 to the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
Officers from the police department and employees from the animal shelter were given the proceeds by the students during a ceremony at the middle school on Wednesday, May 22.
