The Missouri Department of Transportation will limit road construction on Labor Day weekend to accommodate holiday travel.
A news release from MoDOT says work on most construction projects that would impact travel lanes will stop at noon Friday, August 30, and resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 3. However, lane and bridge closures already in place around the state will remain during the holiday and subsequent weekend.
Drivers also are encouraged to be alert to sudden closures due to emergency situations and flooding.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all available troopers will be patrolling Missouri’s roadways- enforcing Missouri’s speed-limit, seat-belt and impaired-driving laws, in addition to being available to assist motorists.
In Missouri, 11 people died and 470 were injured in 1,048 traffic crashes over the 2018 Labor Day holiday. Troopers also arrested 113 people for driving while intoxicated.
