An area law-enforcement agency made some arrests after the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, August 29.
According to a press release, the Sedalia Police Department served the search warrant at an apartment in the 400 block of South Grand Avenue for alleged drug-related activity. Upon entry, six adults were located. During a search of the apartment, authorities say methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia were located.
Outside the residence, there was a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Gardner, Kansas. A search of the vehicle revealed many items that were believed to have been stolen from the Kansas City Metro area, various rounds of ammunition and a short-barreled rifle. Three persons were arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.
According to online court documents, 22-year-old Joshua Richey, of Independence, has been charged with Class D Felonies for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree and Possession of an Illegal Weapon. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash or surety. His initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
And 22-year-old Anastasia Mann, of Ionia, has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree. She also was wanted for a Cooper County failure-to-appear warrant, with bond set at $25,000 cash or surety; three Pettis County warrants for failure to appear, with bonds set at $25,000 cash or surety, $2,250.50 cash only and $2,500 surety only; and a Benton County warrant for failure to appear, with no bond. Her initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
Formal charges have not been filed against the third person who was arrested.
