A resolution that was approved nearly five decades ago was repealed during the meeting of the Higginsville Board of Aldermen on Monday, October 7.
City Administrator Jeanette Dobson explains the resolution involves the Higginsville Habilitation Center.

A news release from Dobson says the habilitation center’s rate will be changed to the commercial rate- currently $3.82 per 100 cubic feet. The new rate will go into effect with the December 2019 billing cycle.
In other news, aldermen approved a request from the chamber of commerce to close Main Street- from 18th to 22nd Streets- for the “Halloween Spooktacular“ event between 5 and 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 31,
Aldermen also gave the green light to a request from Grace United Methodist Church to close Walnut Street- from 15th Street north to the alley- for its “Trunk or Treat” event from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31.
