MALLEY, SIMMONS CHARGED IN COOPER COUNTY 10/9/19RK
Two Boonville residents are facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing a vehicle on Tuesday, October 8.
A probable-cause statement says a Boonville Police officer was called to the area of Pendleton Avenue just after 3:30 a.m. to the report of a possible accident. The officer noted a minivan off the roadway that had sustained heavy damage from a crash- estimated to be more than $1,000.
Searching the area, the officer found two male subjects in a creek about 30 feet from the vehicle. They were identified as 18-year-old Gage Malley and 23-year-old Dylan Simmons. Investigation revealed the owner did not give anybody permission to drive her vehicle, which she said she did not know was missing.
Malley and Simmons reportedly told the officer a third person had stolen the vehicle. However questioning the subjects led to charges being filed.
According to online court documents, Malley and Simmons each has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree. Bond for each has been set at $7,500 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each of the accused is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
