A Bunceton man was killed in a two-vehicle head-on traffic crash in Cooper County on Saturday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a southbound vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Haven Pennington, of Prairie Home, reportedly crossed the center of the roadway and into the path of a northbound vehicle, driven by 42-year-old Michael Kendrick.
Kendrick, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cooper County Coroner James Hurt at 10:48 a.m. Pennington, who also reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, and passengers in Kendrick’s vehicle- 40-year-old Melissa Kendrick, who also reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, and a 14-year-old boy- each suffered serious injuries and a 7-year-old boy sustained moderate injuries. Pennington was flown by MU Air Care and the persons in Kendrick’s vehicle were transported by Cooper County E.M.S. units to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
The crash happened at 10 a.m. on Route U, one-half mile south of Walnut Drive.
