Two Columbia residents sustained minor injuries in a traffic crash in Saline County on Saturday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as 51-year-old Velma Korku reportedly swerved her vehicle to the right to avoid striking another westbound vehicle, which had swerved into her lane to avoid hitting a deer that was in the roadway. Korku reportedly lost control, swerved the vehicle back to the left and overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway and up a hill. The vehicle continued across the North Outer Road before it came to rest.
Korku and 62-year-old Doreen Bempah reportedly were transported by ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for treatment.
The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the 74.4 mile marker on I-70.
