A Marshall man charged with second-degree murder has a court proceeding scheduled to be held this week.
According to online court documents, 55-year-old James Scott Miller has been charged with a Class A Felony for Second-Degree Murder and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action in the shooting death of 31-year-old Joshua Charles Smith, of Marshall, on December 29, 2018. Miller pleaded not guilty on March 11.
Miller posted $500,000 cash-only bond on January 2; but he was arrested for violation of his bond conditions on January 24. On February 20, Miller posted an additional $250,000 cash or surety bond.
A case review has been scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, at Saline County Circuit Court.
At this time, a pre-trial conference is scheduled to be held on December 9; and Miller’s jury trial on January 14 and 15, 2020, at Saline County Circuit Court.
