A student died in a shooting incident on an area college campus on November 4.
According to a news release from the University of Central Missouri, the UCM Department of Public Safety responded to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at an on-campus apartment in Warrensburg, which resulted in the death of Stephon Abron, a student from St. Charles.
The investigation by Johnson County Sheriff’s and Warrensburg Police Department personnel resulted in the arrest of Jeremy Allen Manley, a 24-year-old UCM student from Kansas City.
Court documents say Manley has been charged with a Class E Felony for Involuntary Manslaughter in the Second Degree. Bond originally was set at $100,000 cash or surety. But it was amended to $40,000 cash or surety, with 10-percent approved during his arraignment hearing on November 15. Manley posted $4,000 cash bond on Monday, November 18.
A case review is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18; and Manley’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2020.
