There are several ways area residents can help out needy children and families at this festive time of the year- including going through North Pole Village, which is based in Marshall.
Administrator/Creator of its Facebook page Marcia Marquand says the page started out as Santa’s Elves, but she says there were too many with that name, and people kept getting them mixed up.
Marquand says the organization- which is in its seventh year- helps kids all over the country, but 14 of the 30 kids on the list right now are in Saline County. Marquand explains some of what you can do to help.
Marquand says since North Pole Village does not accept any monetary donations- everything goes to the kids- that it is not required for it to become a nonprofit organization. However, she says she would like to become one “so in the future, we can do fundraisers and stuff.”
Marquand says “the shipping deadline is December 10, if you are going to ship; and the post office says December 15. However, if you are in Saline County and want to sponsor somebody in Saline County, you could take it to them all the way up to Christmas Eve.”
