The Marshall City Council considered approval of some bids to purchase vehicles and equipment for the Municipal Services Department during its meeting on Monday, December 2.
Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson said the items, if approved, will be purchased utilizing an 85/15 grant from the Region F Solid Waste District. The first item is a four-wheel drive tractor.
Anderson also said the department bid a recycle truck in a couple of different ways to get the best value. He said the best value is by buying the chassis separately and then putting the body on it.
Anderson pointed out the body bidder will mount it on the chassis. He said there were three bidders on the body chassis. They selected the high bidder because of reputation with availability of parts and service. He recommended going with the Heil rear-loading recycling packer PT 1000 from Armor Equipment. The total cost is $75,119. The 15 percent the city will be responsible for is $11,267.85.
Anderson says the chassis should be delivered between 90 and 120 days.
Anderson said he sent all of the bid tabs to Region F, and there has not been any objections. The council voted to approve all three bids.
In another action taken by the council, it approved Mayor Julie Schwetz’s recommendation to reappoint Steven Mills to another term on the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works.
