Two Independence residents are facing felony charges after a traffic stop on I-70 in Cooper County on April 1.
A probable-cause statement says the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen out of Overland Park, Kansas. Also, a probable-cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 59 grams of methamphetamine; digital scales; a glass smoking device; and multiple baggies consistent with drug sales.
Cody Nelson and Brittany Mikel each has been charged with a Class Felony for Trafficking Drugs or Attempt in the First Degree and a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree. Bond for each of the accused has been set at $50,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each subject is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
