Multiple felony charges have been filed against a Columbia man after a reported incident in Marshall on Thursday, April 16.
According to a probable-cause statement, Lamont Cooper Jr. is alleged to have broken down a door and entered an apartment at West Birchwood Circle and assaulted three persons, one of whom was 37 weeks pregnant. The pregnant woman was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Cooper then left the scene in a vehicle.
Cooper has been charged with class E Felonies for Assault in the Third Degree, Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License; and two misdemeanors. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash only.
Cooper was scheduled for his initial appearance at Saline County Circuit Court on Friday, April 17. However, the cause was not taken up due to Cooper being unavailable and not in custody at the jail.
