During the meeting in the Marshall School Board on Tuesday, April 21, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz reported the district advertised for technology services for a five-year period.
According to unofficial meeting minutes, one bid was received from Converged Technology Solutions (CTS) in the amount of $109,598.40 or $9,133.20 per month, which is an increase of eight percent from the current monthly rate of $8,456.67. The remaining four years of the proposal will increase 1.5 percent yearly. The board voted to approve the bid.
Dr. Lorenz reported the district’s E-rate for Category 2 items is 80 percent. Items included in this category are Wide Area Network (WAN) and Internet-access costs and equipment purchases. Proposed projects to use these funds include early childhood to replace the failed main switch- $31,127; switch rack in conjunction with the fiber project at Spainhower- $14,162.32; high school to re-terminate the main rack – $11,198.33; replace switch modules- $31,976.10; and campus switches and racks in conjunction with the fiber project at MHS- $43,920.42. The total is $132,384.17, less 20 percent, is $105,907.34. The district cost will be $26,476.80. The board voted to approve the Category 2 proposal.
In other business, the board approved the reemployment of the classified staff for the 2020-2021 school year.
