On Monday, Governor Mike Parson addressed the civil unrest across the state during his daily briefing.
The Governor began his briefing by sharing condolences regarding the tragic death of George Floyd in Minnesota. In response, there were many protests that took place in Missouri and across the nation over the weekend and sadly many of those involved violence. Governor Parson acknowledged that what happened to George Floyd was wrong and has filled Americans with sadness, grief and anger.
Governor Parson signed an Executive Order on Saturday, activating the Missouri National Guard to assist local authorities, at their request. He said his administration is taking a pro-active approach to protect the people of Missouri.
Governor Parson went on to say that every citizen deserves to be safe and protected and to change things; we must not tear each other down, but stand together peacefully.
